I installed code for a new fork / split thread system on the forum today.
This code provides a new
button next to the quote, modify and delete buttons at the top of each post.
When you wish to reply to a post and what you need to say does not directly relate to the original thread, please use the button instead of the reply button to make your new post. This new fork feature will create a new thread and allow you to add it to whichever board you feel is most appropriate. It will by default quote the original post and provide a link to the original thread / post in your reply. It will alternately, at your option, allow you to reply to someone directly by Private Message concerning the thread instead of creating a new thread.
This new feature on our forum should help all of us to keep posts in threads more strictly on topic but still allow us to explore other trains of thought that are often inspired by the original threads without cluttering up the original threads with off topic posts.
If you encounter any difficulties with this new system or find that some other feature of the board is suddenly not working correctly, please make a new post in the Tech Support board.
