. you are in a house that has no windows. you are down stairs and there is a door that opens in to a stairway and at the top another door. upstairs there are four lights. downstairs where you are there are 4 switches. how can you find out which switch goes to which light bulb... you can only go up once. and you must close every door behind you... and no funny business... you cant look under the door or anything like that.

turn one on for a while, then another for shorter, then the third and leave it on. turn the first two off and go upstairs, the hottest one is the first switch, the next warmest the second switch. the one that is on is the third and the last one is the fourth switch.
