Here is the promised Tutorial on how set a Deddy for Halo PC.
There are two server types in Halo:
First is setted up directly in Halo Multi player by going Create game over Internet. You need a cable broadband connection to run it and people can join it.Second one is the DS. You can lease a Dedy from www.gameservers.com for example. This would cost around 10 to 20$ each month. Or you set a Home Dedicated Server which costs nothing but energy like Compdude is doing.You need a cable broadband connection to run a Home Dedy. (It is getting more difficult if you use a router.)
This is all you need to do, follow step by step:
1. Download
Download the dedicated server files from here :
browse.files.filefront.com/Halo+Combat+Evolved+Maps+Levels+Missions+Dream+Team+od+Maps/;2095898;/browsefiles.html (only the Halo Ded. Server Installer file from here [Me for myself prefer that link cause u can install the Snipers Dream Team Mod with it :-)])
2. Install
Install one of options in a folder
(options are SDTM Dedicated Server or Original Dedicated Server maps , choose SDTM files to install the SDT mod maps)
3. Update
Update the DS by downloading the patch file :
www.gamona.de/downloads/halo,dedicated-server-patch-v1.0.8.616:download,861883.html
Save the file into the folder where the files of the dedicated server are in and create a shortcut to that file on your desktop.

5. Init file
Create an init.txt file with the initeditor that was installed with the DS files to set some settings for the server.(There could be another thread about what to write in the initfile but u may google it first)
5. Network Settings
(necessary settings)
Make sure that u set this settings in Halo:
Go to the Halo main screen, then settings, then network, then change the server port to 2304 and the client port to 2305. Save changes.
6. Start the Dedy
Start the Halo Dedicated Server with shortcut to that file that you have copied into the folder where the other DS files are.
(this file was Halo_PC_DedicatedServerPatch_v1_0_8_616.exe)
Then the Halo console starts and with it the Dedicated Server
7. Join your DS
To join your Dedicated Server start Halo and search your server name in the game spy server list or search it in xfire.
8. Stop the DS
Stop the DS with closing the console in windows by clicking on the cross.
