I'll be completely honest. It looks like a grey mess with flashing. Don't worry man, not every piece of work comes out nice. I myself probably throw more sigs out than actually see the light of day because I paint myself into a corner, or because I just dislike the way it's turning out. Few tips: 1. Focal Point. I'm not really sure where the focal point lies in this picture. The rule of thirds is s'posed to help figure out the focal point. But roughly using the rule of thirds it's in between the Spartan and your text. So, I'm lost as to where to look. As such I look at the whole sig and it appears unattractive. 2. Your background, I'm not going to lie. It's awful. It comes across as too busy and takes away from the rest of the sig. 3. The colours, black and white is tricky to do. It's best to have a real contrast between your render and the background. Overall the spartan is pretty much the same colour as the background and almost meshes with it. 4. Your text. It's hard to see(not always a bad thing), but it follows with what I was saying about colours. It's dark and dreary and blends with the background. Because you have centered it's like it's supposed to be the main thing we look at. Yet it's lacking. 5. Animations are alright, but I personally think they have to be noticeable. Until reading your post I thought you had done some sort of Sepia thing, not rain. Anyways, in the end it kind of made it look low quality. Same with the flash. It just doesn't have the feel of a storm. This could also be due to the background. It doesn't look like clouds, it looks like...I'm at a loss for words as to what it looks like, but it's not pretty.
